Desirée Lafuente was born in Logroño (La Rioja, Spain) where she studied Business Management and Management Computer Science. Although this was her career for some years, she always felt attracted to decorative arts, design and scenic art. This interest made her take up drawing and painting, fashion design and industrial pattern lessons. She practiced techniques for modelling, jewellery, mosaic, etc.

Afterwards, she designed scenes and dressing for theatre companies and she marketed her own dress designs.
However, it wasn’t until 1997 when she discovered the miniatures world and, after two self-learning years, she started to make her first customized pieces and sell them in specialized shops.

This craftswoman’s regular creations are skin or textile upholstered furniture. For this kind of pieces, the author has developed a set of techniques, based on the manufacturing and upholstering real scale furniture study. With these techniques she gets to give her sofas and armchairs a realism and a finish very unusual for this kind of 1:12 scale pieces.

Her work has been published in Miniaturas national magazine, where she collaborates with different manufacturing projects

At the moment she works as a miniatures craftswoman, manufacturing both ready-made pieces and customized orders for private collectors or others artisans.
